The Human Race is at a Crossroads
Accumulating data, we now have huge databases which, while giving more insight into the nature of our problems, do not necessarily provide solutions. Seeking Wisdom, we have instead found (or possibly created) Information. The search has been for answers, but many are now realizing the questions themselves are supect… and it’s becoming apparent that some crucial assumptions underlying modern Western culture are flawed.
The importance of Context has not been emphasized enough; the art of open-minded, optimistic, critical thinking is not being studied in our schools – rather discouraged. Einstein has been quoted as saying, “Imagination is more important than Knowledge,” and “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” It takes imagination, vision, to dream of questions that lie beyond the pale of the acceptable. It takes conviction to stand up in the midst of a crowd who would rather not be bothered, and ASK those questions aloud.
So here’s a question: What’s missing that, if it were present, would allow us to live in ways that are FUNdamentally sustainable and nurturing, providing honorable ground for incredible diversity in the human adventure?
A New Renaissance
There are many People alive today who are on the forefront of a modern Renaisance, in the tradition of TRUE Mystic/Poet/Scientists. They are fashioners of a Science that refuses to ignore the obvious: that we as individual subjective experiencers are NOT somehow, weirdly, separate from the holon of complex nested systems within which we are embedded…
Perhaps what often passes for scientific objectivity is merely thinly disguised arrogance. Perhaps there is no true objectivity graspable by a human mind, and the nature of reality is perhaps more porous and malleable than we have been led to prefer.
Perhaps Wisdom is found at the fulcrum of subject/object.
People of the New Renaissance see the futility of trying to incorporate the increasing global body of anomalous research data into old paradigms (that, while ground-breaking 200, 300, or 500 years ago, have long become the dogma of the Faithful Who Do Not Question The Questions, but instead question the questioners who question the questions!).
These mavericks prefer instead to design new skins for new wine. Modern shamans of the global village, midwives to the birth of a new way of Being Human in a Conscious Universe… Risking much, and sometimes all, in the daring attempt to SEE, and document and describe, the unified, holistic pattern of a U.N.I.V.E.R.S.E. that is… A.L.I.V.E.

Given this, Web 2.0 refers to a threshhold that we are currently inside of, an ontological/technological transformation on a network-wide level, an order of magnitude. It’s like the transformations the fetus goes through during the gestation process, sometimes the forms are vastly different from each other. Human Lives are as cells to this body.
The Semantic Web is the formation of a dynamic hybrid mind, at it’s core a stable and well integrated physical and code infrastructure that permits (in some areas) radical and rapid experimentation and development…
It is as distinct from the copper and silicon and glass that comprise it’s physical form as are we, in our quintessence, distinct from the DNA, carbon, oxygen, and other complex molecular chains that comprise ours.
It exists on levels that have no precedent, because they are emergent, yet HAVE been intuited by a few visionaries… It is the child of the life force of all who live and contribute in the cybernetic sphere, to greater or lesser degree… leviathan or star child, can’t really say right now from here. It could no more survive independently at this stage than any other early term pregnancy outside it’s mother’s womb… Most likely still a transitional form, not the final appearance, (if there is a final appearance)
Clearly a function of Singularity.
Up through Web-1.9.9, the so-called “internet” has been experiencing explosive growth as multicellular community, rather than a coherent body of unified form and consciousness. Higher dimensional theoretical mathematics can be experienced here, beyond mental speculation. Therefore new senses of perception and senses of action are emerging. Fractals have opened a perceptual doorway to the transformation of consciousness, transcending levels, etc.
Perhaps a bridge is forming. We’re in the midst of a paradigm shift, a sea change… it’s an evolutionary adaptational necessity, and not at all avoidable.
However, this might still be a developers release!

IDEALISM – THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE MATRIX AND THE TRUE NATURE OF MATTER – Harun Yahya is a well composed thought journey, which is in service to fundamentalist islamic viewpoint. It’s kind of like reading Hare Krishna literature; amazing in breadth and scope, but with certain assumptions that are held sacred to the point that even when the author is logically obliged to observe them in relation to other viewpoints, the tactic taken is often that of simple dismissal and ridicule.

BTW, I love the Wikipedia concept of Neutral point of view as a set of guidelines for objective knowledge represenrtation, while not necessarily squashing passion around a particular topic.

You Can’t Argue With A Zombie
This is a refreshing, humourous repartee by one of the people responsible for bringing forth the concept of VR (Virtual Reality) into the mainstream consciousness, Jaron Lanier. Refreshing in that he is clearly a free, original thinker, and here he distinguishes the parameters of a new dogma that is so tantalyzing for “progressive” minds that we don’t even notice that it IS dogma.
Integrity
It’s good to experience first hand what does *not* work within the context of realizing a particular vision of community. Within my current framework, I believe it’s better to be conscious of the quality of one’s integrity on all levels, beginning with the comparatively insignificant. It all counts, and the habit of allowing small lapses just feeds the tendency to allow large lapses.
Integrity is a singular fabric, upon which all endeavors rest. My personal piece is utterly interwoven with that of All My Relations. A little tear here, a hole there, a smouldering smoky flame over there….
